The London Missionary Society was officially established in 1795 and has actively sent missionaries around the world to promote their work. This includes initiatives in Hong Kong, where they have developed projects focused on preaching, healthcare, and education, providing valuable experience and contributions to local development.
By the grace of God, this year marks the 230th Anniversary of London Missionary Society (“LMS”) which has made significant contributions to Hong Kong, particularly in the areas of evangelism, medical service and education. To commemorate this milestone, six organizations associated with LMS in Hong Kong, which included Ying Wa College, Ying Wa Girls’ School, Hop Yat Church of the Church of Christ in China (“HYC-CCC”), The Hong Kong Council of the Church of Christ in China (“HKCCCC”), Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Charity Foundation (“AHNCF”) and CWM/Nethersole Fund (“CWM/NF”) formed an Organizing Committee (“OC”) to organize a Thanksgiving Service on 5 December 2025 (Friday) in HYC-CCC Hong Kong Church to praise for its enduring legacy of mission and ministry.
The Thanksgiving Service was officiated by Rev. Ma Chi Man Jick of HYC-CCC, with the sermon preached by Rev. Dr. So Shing Yit Eric, Senior Missionary in Hong Kong of the LMS. The responsive prayer was led by The Rt Rev. Dr. Soo Yee Po Thomas, Honorary Advisor of the CWM/NF. Scripture was read by Mr. Chow Kun Chee Roland, Trustee of the CWM/NF and the prayer of thanksgiving was led by Rev. Lam Ching Yu Connie, Chief Chaplain of Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital and Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital. In addition, a 116-member joint choir formed by representatives from the organizations of OC sang hymns to give thanks for the Lord’s grace! Due to the postponement of the Service, Rev. Julie Sim, representative of the Council for World Mission, who had travelled from Singapore earlier, also delivered a speech via by video. Finally, the Service concluded with a benediction given by Rev. Wong Ka Fai, General Secretary HKCCCC to the congregation.
May we continue to inherit this mission with thankful hearts and unwavering faith, standing united and blessing the people of Hong Kong.
